Purchased at a Value Village thrift store on October 14, 2021. After getting it home I discovered that all 6 of the AA batteries had exploded and looked to have been in there since it was first purchased. Thankfully after cleaning it and taking it apart I found that the corrosion had not spread to any of the internal circuitry. However, the battery contacts had been damaged beyond repair. After replacing the contacts with a couple temporary pieces of wire it turned on and functions flawlessly.
